MINUTES OF THE ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE OINA OF APRIL 24, 2026
GENERAL DECLARATION
The General Meeting of the IONA approved the following General Declaration:
- The International Organization New Acropolis (I.O.N.A.) has continued to organize activities on World Philosophy Day around 17th November; Mother Earth Day, celebrated worldwide on 22nd April; and the Day of Arts around 21st June, at all its centres around the world. In so doing, it aims to foster these vital expressions of the soul which enrich human beings and form part of the aims and objectives of this organization.
- The General Meeting adopted the motion to encourage all kinds of actions to commemorate the 70th anniversary of this institution, which will be celebrated on 15th July 2027, by organizing a wide variety of events and publishing social media posts and editions of works by the first President of the IONA, Jorge Ángel Livraga Rizzi, along with many other activities aimed at commemorating this significant anniversary.
- The General Meeting praised the willingness of the IONA’s volunteers to undergo ongoing training so that they can continue to support search and rescue efforts alongside public and private organizations in emergency situations occurring around the world. In this respect, with a view to promoting prevention, awareness and training in disaster risk reduction, the IONA has organized two international events (in Sicily and São Paulo) for the practical training of hundreds of volunteers so that they can be ready to deal with hydrological hazards. It also organized an International Humanitarian Volunteering Conference, which addressed current issues such as the new narratives of the 21st century and volunteering in a world in crisis. These activities will continue to be a priority in the organization’s volunteering work.
- The General Meeting applauded the work of the New Acropolis School of Sport for offering people the opportunity to practise sports imbued with a healthy philosophical and humanistic spirit through which to channel their vocations, using sport as a means of transmitting and developing values, as well as promoting health. In particular, it highlighted the International Volunteer Games, where athletes experience the Olympic spirit in a philosophical way that helps them develop as human beings, as well as improving their respective environments.
