MINUTES OF THE ORDINARY GENERAL MEETING OF THE IONA HELD ON 11 APRIL 2025

GENERAL DECLARATION

The General Meeting of the IONA approved the following Declaration:

  1. The International Organization New Acropolis (I.O.N.A.) has been carrying out activities for World Philosophy Day uninterruptedly for the last seventeen years, in accordance with its original aim of establishing a school of philosophy. In addition, over the last five years, it has also recommended that the different centres around the world should organize activities for Mother Earth Day, which is celebrated on 22 April each year. Furthermore, all the national associations are encouraged, not only to continue to carry out these activities every year, but also to contribute to the activities that were incorporated into the IONA’s calendar of activities last year for the celebration of the Day of Arts around 21 June, in all the centres of New Acropolis around the world, fostering these vital expressions of the soul that ennoble human beings and are intrinsic to the aims and objects of this Organization.

  2. The General Meeting resolved to further develop the project of an academic model of university studies established in 2021 under the name of Universitas General Studies (https://www.universitas-eg.org/). During the four years since its foundation it has been offering online courses of a scientific and artistic nature, covering the areas of legal, economic and business studies, health, visual arts, communication, human sciences, mathematical and natural sciences and studies in the field of music and the performing arts

  3. The General Meeting commends the willingness of the IONA’s volunteers to travel to different parts of the world where various emergency situations have arisen, to work alongside other private and public organizations in search and rescue operations. In particular, it highlights the human and environmental disaster that occurred in Valencia (Spain) and other affected areas in other countries, such as Brazil and across Europe, due to the meteorological phenomenon of the “cold drop” or “high-altitude isolated depression” known in Spain as DANA, which resulted in torrential rains that left hundreds of people dead and missing and shocked its citizens. Volunteers from New Acropolis and GEA have worked together efficiently and rapidly to remove rubble and clean up affected areas, supported by members of the different centres of New Acropolis Spain.
  4. Faced with the resurgence of political movements with totalitarian and xenophobic ideologies and the drift of religious groups towards integrist positions, as well as the development of all kinds of small millenarian and eschatological groups, the General Meeting of the IONA declares its rejection of such intolerant attitudes, which are contrary to the aims of the Association, and ratifies the Declaration of the founder of the IONA, Jorge Ángel Livraga Rizzi, issued at the General Meeting held in London (United Kingdom) in 1979, in which he stated that “the IONA is not attached or related to any kind of political or religious groups, and it is prohibited to use our centres for political or religious meetings” which have nothing to do with the philosophical principles of our school of philosophy.
