Discovering the great questions and answers in unexpected places

More and more people are coming to philosophy (or philosophies old and new) for advice on how to improve and organize their everyday lives and discover a new art of living.

Searching for wisdom, and looking for guidelines for living that can help us overcome obstacles or face the challenges of existence, are part of a growing phenomenon which is fundamental to the development of the human being: the irresistible urge to achieve our own personal development.

The principles of this philosophical questioning require us, first of all, to leave aside the usual answers and then to go further and discover authentic personal strategies for combating addictions, dealing with stress or fears, and achieving better control over our emotions or better time management. In short, to becomer better human beings.

Philosophy is not only learnt from books. There are many ways to discover it and our daily life is full of examples.

Philosophical and symbolic thought is part of our daily lives, much more than we think. Both can be found camouflaged within the great works of art and literature, in movies, TV series or contemporary music.

The appeal of all these works is precisely due to the fact that these cultural products are carriers of meaning, of metaphysical questions and of a symbolic dimension that are important for the life of every human being.

This section will provide new approaches to enable each individual to find one or more ways of discovering and practising philosophy. From our favourite television series to seeing Plato as a personal life coach.

It isn’t about offering a miracle cure, but providing a practical guide that will help us learn how to train our minds to reflect and practise philosophy in everyday life.

It is often thought that the only legitimate culture is the cultural heritage that is taught in school or at university, and that popular or everyday culture represents a threat to this classical culture. But in fact, as we will see, each can inspire the other.

Our aim in this section is to bring the varied aspects of these two forms of culture into a harmonious symbiosis.
